Translation Service For
Japanese Art Texts

Artoka assures high quality, fluent English and Japanese translations of catalogue essays,
artist statements, dialogues, academic papers, and other art-related Japanese-language texts.

ARTOKA Translation is a translation service specializing in Japanese-language art documents.

ARTOKA is committed to the advancement of Japanese art in the global context. It is our mission to support artists, writers, museums, and art and culture organizations from Japan in their efforts to reach broader audiences by providing English translations of exceptional quality and fluency.

At ARTOKA, we are sensitive to the needs of the Japanese art community. We understand that a general translation service may not be equipped to properly translate art texts that require an understanding of art history, art theory, and specialized terminology. ARTOKA’s team of Japanese translators and American editors have all lived and studied in Japan and the United States, all hold degrees in Fine Art or Art History, have worked with prestigious museums such as the Guggenheim, the Whitney Museum, and the Asia Society, and have experience writing and editing for international art publications. All of the members of the ARTOKA team have extensive experience and understanding of Japanese art as well as the international art audience, assuring our clients that their art documents will be treated with the utmost sensitivity, knowledge, and skill.

ARTOKA brings extensive experience, relevant expertise, and cultural sensitivity to your project. Past clients include MoMA (The Museum of Modern Art), the Bunka-cho (Japanese Agency for Cultural Affairs), the Tokyo Opera City Gallery, National Gallery Singapore and other non-profit organizations and galleries. We are dedicated to working with our clients to assure accuracy, quality, and fluency.
